Visited @guardianbrewingco in Saugatuck on my way home from St. Joe yesterday. I'm always looking to try new places that are out of the way for me to visit usually, and they are right off the highway.
I read on their website that barrel aged beers are one of their specialities, and even though I'm usually "meh" on BA, I decided to try them. It was really nice that they offer 10oz pours because I like more than a 5oz but want to try different beers and still be able to continue driving 😂

First beer I tried was "Rum Mountain Howler" which is a rum barrel aged milk stout. Very smooth and not too boozy-which is usually what turns me off if BA. I really enjoyed it! Next I asked the bartender which was her current favorite and she said the "Vanill-a-corn" which is their vanilla porter. Very easy drinking.

Last but not least I had the "Tequila Tengu" and in my opinion, I saved the best for last! It's a Belgian witbier agreed in tequila barrels. I was hesitant but am trying to step out of my IPA comfort zone so I went for it. I LOVED it. It is crisp and drinkable, and I almost get a ginger flavor from it. Despite being BA The ABV is only 5.6% and I could definitely drink it outside all day!

Besides being a fan of the beer, their space is very open and welcoming to everyone, most notably the LGBTQ community. I'm a proud ally so this is important to me and I was happy to see all the Pride gear displayed in the brewery and worn by the staff. AND the owner and brewer/owner are women! I'll definitely be back!

P.S. Still working on my low key beer selfies when I'm alone at the bar.... 😂
